BMW Sidecar Kits
We offer LBS sidecar kits of our own design for your BMW. A complete kit may include a sidecar body, fender, chassis, trailing arm suspension, shock absorber, rigging, subframe, leading link fork, wheels, and optional accessories. We are also a dealer for STEPLER Sidecars, URAL, STERN Gespanneservice, RUKO Farhrzeugtechnik, and MOBEC International GmbH. We can fabricate a chassis to accept any body for most any motorcycle with sufficient load-bearing hardpoints for a subframe.

The iconic sidecar. All steel construction, in production for over seven decades. Battlefield-proven, can be configured to meet any mission profile: highway touring, backroads and byways, two-rack, or no roads at all.
Widely imitated, only the URAL sidecar has a shock-isolating mounting system. Rubber bushings and tube clamps under the nose allow the body to pivot on a chassis cross-member. Rubber shock towers under the trunk de-couple the load of the body, cargo, and passenger(s) from the chassis.
The “essentials” kit includes a nicely-appointed/complete body, seat, windshield, cover, fender, lights, and the mounting system. LBS options include our own chassis, trailing arm and hub adapter, rigging, subframe, wheel and brake, leading link fork - everything but the bike itself. All you need to add . . . . is you.

Shown with custom wheel. Front wheel is the same as the bike’s rear and sidecar wheel. All take the same size automotive tire. Note large diamter single-sided disc rotor with tinned calipers.
Two to three rubber shock towers support rear of body over rear cross-member (2WD driveshaft shown availavle on URAL Gear-Up outfit only).
Two-piece seat is made in Italy. Latched seat base has under-seat strorage space for tools, etc. Weather resistant seat cushions. Arm rests. Folding/stowable windshield. Heavy duty tonneau cover.
Custom LBS chassis. Hydraulically-actuated disc brake with inline proportioning valve, eliminates need for constant adjustment of sidecar bake bias. All brake components are attached to trailing arm for simple wheel removal. Wheel hub designed to accept same wheel as motorcycle, has dual-row sealed bearings for axle shaft. This one has a OEM BMW ESA shock installed.
Purpose-built chassis designed to accept complete URAL sidecar body and its unique dual-suspension system. Sidecar has rubber bushings under nose and clamps to forward cross-member to allow it to pivot on axle. Rear of body is support on two to three rubber shock isolators to de-couple body mass from chassis.
LBS engineers the best subframe in the business. Each is custom to a specific model bike, not “universal”.
